Bio
Jim has spent the last 13 years involved in motorsports and the automotive performance aftermarket.
For the last three years he has been Director of Operations for The DDD Directory, the
world’s largest and only Online Vehicle Specific Performance
Directory
In 1995,his passion for cars drove him to open his first car detail shop and accessories
store: “Classic Auto Detailing and Accessories” in Longwood, FL.
While
in college, Jim and his business partner Ed quickly made a name for themselves
after cold calling for new accounts and producing fine work for local car
dealers and private owners. Business was good!
Jim decided to go back to school full time, so the detail shop was sold entirely
to Ed and Jim finished up his coursework.
Since the automotive field remained his #1 passion, he took a job with Victory Lap Motorsports selling a
revolutionary, waterless wash and wax called ”QuicShine 99”, and part of the business model was a required 10% donation of all
proceeds to the Children’s Miracle
Network. Jim and the sales team received permission to sell the product in Wal-Mart
and Sam’s Club
parking lots and traveled the country
The outfit was backed by a NASCAR
contingency sponsorship (1995) and the International Motorsports
Hall of Fame
(official wash and wax). In
this venture, he realized the potential of his natural sales talent and
automotive interest, and set out to use the two as a catalyst for success
in a field where he has true passion.
Fast forward another year to 1997. School required a job with less travel, so he took a local sales job at Discount Auto Parts / Advance Auto
Parts
and worked his way up to
Assistant Manager, before eventually being offered the role of Store
Manager. As a working student, he chose to remain an assistant manager until being offered a wholesale sales
position at Central Auto Parts / Universal Parts Warehouse in 2000 (which
has recently been bought out by Carquest ).
After Jim finished his AA, a unique twist of fate brought his interest to Superchips, Inc.
located only 20 miles from his
home in Orlando, FL.
From
2001 to 2005, Jim worked for Superchips Inc. starting out in sales/tech support.
After being promoted
to Calibrator (often referred in the industry as “Test Engineer”) he
performed
R&D
and
developed tuning for Ford gasoline and diesel and Dodge diesel
vehicles. Jim
wrote, tested and tuned programs in “Microtuners” used in thousands of
vehicles nationwide, helping consumers make more power and, in many cases,
better fuel mileage. He has logged thousands of dyno hours and has a
strong grasp on how a vehicle should be properly tuned at the software level.
It was an incredible work experience and helped Jim develop
two rarely combined talents: Ability in sales &
marketing, and also the ability to relate with and understand the technical side of a product or business.
If you bought a Superchips product for a Powerstroke Diesel from 2003-2006, theres a good chance Jim tuned it!
In his time there, he was chosen for many technical and social roles, including representing the calibrations department at the SEMA show in Las Vegas.
After accomlishing many goals with Superchips, opportunity knocked and he turned his
sights to The DDD Directory
(DDD Racing, LLC
), where he works with Chris Saunier, David
Caine, and other people behind the scenes to create the largest and only Vehicle Specific Aftermarket Performance Directory: www.TheDDDdirectory.com
The DDD Directory receives millions of hits every single month!
